The Youth AI Governance Forum (YAIGF) is a youth-led initiative advancing meaningful youth participation in global AI governance through policy engagement, research, dialogue, and international collaboration.
Why YAIGF exists.
YAIGF was born from a simple observation: young people will live longest with the consequences of today's AI governance decisions, yet remain significantly underrepresented in the processes shaping them. Here's how we're changing this:

Institutionalising Meaningful Youth Participation in AI Governance
The Youth AI Governance Forum (YAIGF) exists to advance the institutionalisation of meaningful youth participation in AI governance. We believe that young people should be systematically embedded within AI governance processes through sustained, representative, and impactful participation, recognising their distinct and legitimate stake in shaping the long-term governance, development, deployment, and oversight of AI systems.
These four principles build on that foundation:
Youth AI Governance Principles
These principles reflect the priorities identified in YAIGF's inaugural global youth consultation and in its subsequent submission to the United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance. Together, they provide a shared framework for advancing meaningful youth participation in AI governance.
Human Rights
AI governance should be grounded in internationally recognised human rights to protect fundamental freedoms and advance transparency, accountability, privacy, and meaningful human oversight.
AI Literacy and Education
AI literacy and education should equip individuals to engage critically, responsibly, and confidently with AI — strengthening digital resilience, supporting creativity, and enabling informed participation in AI governance.
Safe, Trustworthy, and Accountable AI
The development and deployment of AI should be supported by effective governance mechanisms, appropriate safeguards, and proportionate accountability measures that promote safety, manage risks, and strengthen public trust.
Inclusive Global Governance
AI governance should reflect diverse regions, disciplines, cultures, and lived experiences while strengthening equitable participation and capacity-building for historically underrepresented communities.

Alessandro Ciceri
Founder
Alessandro Ciceri founded the Youth AI Governance Forum (YAIGF) to help ensure that the generation most affected by artificial intelligence has a meaningful role in shaping how it is governed. Combining experience in AI policy organisations, the United Nations, and global youth engagement, he works at the intersection of technology governance and youth participation. Through YAIGF, Alessandro advocates for a shift from youth participation as an occasional consultation exercise towards its institutionalisation within AI governance frameworks. His work focuses on creating lasting mechanisms for representation, connecting young people with decision-makers, and building a future in which youth perspectives are recognised as an essential component of AI governance.
